Geelong Gallery's rear facade overlooking Johnstone Park has been transformed with a newly commissioned artwork by contemporary artist Jon Campbell.

With his use of words and phrases as imagery Campbell captures aspects of popular culture that are both lived and observed that are local national and international and that can be spoken written sung and read.

Campbell works across paintings banners neon lighting flags and songs to demonstrate his love of suburbia and its vernacular.

His works define not only the look of the world in which he lives but the accent and humour of its language.

The five panel work DUNNO wraps neatly around the Gallery's rear facade revealing itself to passersby depending on their route through Johnstone Park.

In the traditions of the Aussie vernacular like 'yeah nah' it speaks to uncertainty and ambivalence.

In his bold and graphic style Campbell affirms that art is everywhere around us: in the words we use or overhear and on the buildings we regularly pass by.
