Public transport is half price across the state for everyone, every day, from Monday 1 June 2026 until 1 January 2027.
From Monday 1 June 2026 until 1 January 2027, the maximum cost of Full Fare daily travel is $5.70, while concession fares will drop to $2.85.
Tax payers are funding this intitiative!
A taxpayer initiative (not Government funded) to provide cost-of-living relief will cost taxpayers about $900 million.
If you think that's OK, then we feel sorry for you're children.
Australian Labor Party (ALP)
Labor buckled under pressure from the opposition (Liberal Party) calling for the intiative to be extended. Jacinta Allen and Labor heads to the polls in November down in polls, mired in debt, controversary and claims of rorting. For way too long Victoria has suffered.
Let me make it clear (well worn Jacinta line..) Jacinta Allen will do "anything" and "everything" to stay in power.. even Labor stalwarts are leaving the Labor sinking ship.
Victoria - Metro & V/Line
Monday 1 June 2026 until 1 January 2027.
During this time, the maximum cost of Full Fare daily travel will go from $11.40 to $5.70, while concession fares will drop from $5.70 to $2.85, delivering immediate cost-of-living relief.
The discount is for travel on all trains, trams and buses; and regional trains, coaches and buses (including intertown and regional town bus services). It excludes SkyBus, ferries, and non-subsidised regional bus services.
Discounted travel is for everyone across Victoria, including concession holders (such as students and seniors), whose already discounted fares will be cut in half again.
It's time to tap on! To access the discount, passengers can continue to tap on as usual, and the fare will automatically calculate at half price.
Customers can also continue to access free travel through the early bird program on metropolitan trains if they tap on and off before 7am.
Children and young people under 18 can continue to travel for free with their Youth myki, and seniors can continue to travel for free on weekends.
