The Grand Final game is the culmination of 23 home and away matches 25 rounds of football plus elimination, semi and preliminary finals.

Tied Scores (End of game) * Time on will be played if the scores are tied at the end of the 4th quarter. After a six-minute break, the game will resume with two three-minute halves - plus time on. Teams will change ends at the end of the first three-minute half, but there will be no break, with play immediately resuming once the players are set. If the scores are still tied at the end of the two three-minute halves, the process of playing another two three-minute halves will be repeated until a winner is found.
* Traditionally played on the last Saturday in September.

In Victoria, the Major Events Act 2009 protects fans from being ripped off by ticket scalpers and ensures that tickets to major events are available for everyone.. vic.gov.au
The Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events has declared that the grand final is protected under the legislation, it is an offence to resell (and/or to advertise for resale) any ticket for more than 10 percent above the face value of the ticket.
